Some interesting footage of James Garner during Everton’s 3-3 draw with Manchester City on Monday night has surfaced – and it speaks volumes.
The Toffees came agonisingly close to pulling off the result of their season at Hill Dickinson Stadium, having led City 3-1 as the game entered its final stages.
How do you even begin to explain that? 😫
Everton have conceded late on AGAIN… 😡
But Pep Guardiola’s side hit back through Erling Haaland and then Jeremy Doku right at the death.
The draw really felt like a defeat, with Everton having done so well to get back into the game and give themselves a two-goal cushion.
The result now makes Everton’s task of getting into European very difficult.
The way Everton finished that game last night really was frustrating, and one reaction from James Garner said it all.
James Garner’s anguish spotted as Erling Haaland scored vs Everton

After Thierno Barry scored his second to put Everton 3-1 up, it was paramount for Moyes’ side to start managing the game.
It was a moment to keep things tight, and make life as difficult as possible for City, who were on the ropes.
But inexplicably, Everton immediately conceded to Erling Haaland.
It was Mateo Kovacic who played a defence-splitting pass. In fairness, it was good vision from the midfielder, but watching it back, the gap between James Tarkowski and Michael Keane was alarmingly big.
And James Garner’s reaction to what was unfolding spoke volumes.
The England midfielder could immediately see what was coming as the ball left Kovacic’s foot, and stretched out his arms as if to ask ‘Why? Why on earth would you be so far apart?’ He then sank to the ground as Haaland dinked home.
It’s possible Everton stunned themselves by creating a two-goal lead from having been a goal down, and this led to a lapse from kick-off.
City sensed the lack of organisation in that moment and pounced.
Keane and Tarkowski are both so experienced, and it is baffling that they would give Haaland – arguably the deadliest striker in the game – so much room to collect that pass.
Who is to blame for this? 🙄
This is becoming a real issue for Everton and costing them valuable points! 😭
He loves to run onto passes like that and you simply cannot give him the room.
Moyes even admitted Everton defended the second goal poorly and, unfortunately, it gave City momentum and we all saw what happened just moments later.
Garner’s reaction was certainly understandable, and hopefully that goal will serve as a lesson moving forward.
