David Moyes made some damning comments about Everton’s performance in the goalless draw to Burnley.
The festive cheer was brought to a sudden halt by Everton’s uninspiring display against Burnley at Turf Moor this weekend.
Everton drew 0-0 with Burnley, meaning the Toffees sit 11th in the Premier League table and have only scored 18 goals at the halfway point of the 2025/26 campaign.

Who was your Man of the Match vs Burnley? 🤩
A frustrating 90 minutes at Turf Moor!
After the full-time whistle, David Moyes made a worrying statement about the result, criticising the performance but somewhat accepting a draw against relegation candidates.
It’s not exactly the ambition that Everton fans want to see from their manager and the match stats from Turf Moor paint a torrid picture for the Toffees.

Everton didn’t get the basics right against Burnley
While James Garner impressed against Burnley, the majority of Everton’s players looked well off the pace this weekend.
As per BBC Sport, Everton were outrun and outfought by Burnley in almost every measurement.
Is David Moyes too negative? 🤔
Everton covered 112.82 kilometres compared to Burnley’s 114.72 kilometres, even though the home side saw more of the ball.
Burnley also won more duels, had a higher xG (expected goals) and also completed 50 more forward passes than Everton.
David Moyes accused Everton players of giving up
Moyes was clearly unimpressed with what he saw from his players this weekend, and it was a huge missed opportunity to pick up three points in the Premier League.
In his post-match comments, Moyes said: “We just didn’t really get out of the box right from the start. It wasn’t to say that we didn’t have a few opportunities to score and the keeper made a few saves.
“We had one or two chances, but in the end, we gave up too much today and didn’t play well enough.”

Looking back at the match stats, that is a fair assessment of what was a truly soul-crushing performance.
A trip to Nottingham Forest will end Everton’s 2025, and Moyes will be hoping for a much better, more energised performance on Tuesday evening.
