The end of the road may be closer than originally thought for Adam Aznou at Everton.

Vitalii Mykolenko is expected to remain at Everton for next season as the Blues will likely trigger his one-year contract extension.

David Moyes has barely played Aznou since signing him from Bayern Munich last summer.

The youngster has not even featured in the Premier League, with Everton’s search for another left-back could potentially mark an early departure for the Moroccan.

Everton’s summer transfer plan could mark end of Adam Aznou’s spell

Aznou was recently spotted attending El Classico with his good friend Lamine Yamal, which summed up the canyon between the left-back and Moyes’ plans.

A report from The Athletic has claimed that Everton will be looking for left-back cover in the summer market.

This is on top of the one-year extension for Mykolenko, which leaves Aznou’s immediate future very much hanging in the balance.

Moyes has barely even mentioned Aznou when addressing the players on the fringe of his Everton squad this season.

Having made the move from Bayern in the summer for a fee in the region of £8m, the Moroccan has simply been unable to make any sort of impact under the 63-year-old.

Aznou impressed against Sunderland in the FA Cup, but that cameo display – which turned the game around – has not been rewarded with any further minutes by Moyes.

Everton do need competition for Mykolenko, and the decision to outsource that in the summer is a potentially damning indication as to where Aznou’s future may lie.

Adam Aznou has made his Everton stance clear

Aznou’s attendance at El Clasico made it abundantly clear where he stood on Merseyside, amid his lack of opportunities under Moyes.

Of course, fans remain unaware of which side of the player Moyes sees behind the scenes at Finch Farm.

However, there is a running theme with the 63-year-old not utilising his younger players like Tyler Dibling and Harrison Armstrong.

Aznou has expressed his frustrations over social media in the past, which may well suggest he would be unwilling to sit on the sidelines again next season for Moyes.

If Mykolenko stays and another left-back is signed, Aznou would then become third-choice, with any hope of minutes surely evaporating.
