‘What a player’… Everton fans agree there was only one positive vs Blackburn Rovers

Everton suffered a 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

David Moyes’ side were held to a draw against Accrington Stanley in their first pre-season outing and followed that up with a defeat against Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers.

Of course, pre-season isn’t really about the results, more so building up fitness, but it does indicate that Everton still have a lot of work to do in the transfer market.

Moyes is keen to sign a winger, and Tom Fellows has been heavily linked with a move to Finch Farm over the last few months.

A midfielder is also on the agenda, however, fans were really impressed by one youngster against Blackburn that could fill that void.

Everton fans so impressed by Harrison Armstrong vs Blackburn Rovers

Everton fans got another glimpse of Harrison Armstrong yesterday, as he came on just before the hour mark.

Armstrong was a standout performer against Accrington Stanley, and he was really impressive at Ewood Park, too.

“Harrison Armstrong is levels above James Garner. He’ll make mistakes and get found out in some games but if this midfield was the one that starts the season, Harrison and Gueye would be my two,” @adamjeffrey98 explained.

“Harrison Armstrong has to stay around the first team this season what a player that lad is going to be for us,” @LiamT30EFC said.

@efcg22 commented: “Harrison Armstrong will be a star, give it another year and he’ll be way superior to Garner.”

@GreeneyPau20116 posted: “This pre-season everything has gone through him, he’s a very intelligent player, just he’s getting the ball and it’s him what’s finding the next pass on what I’ve seen he deserves a chance going forward but ultimately it’s Moyes’ decision.”

“Only positive is Armstrong. Probably the best passer at the club. Everything else is terrible,” @ToffeeCardinal admitted.

@AdamHickin said: “Keep Harrison Armstrong in the first team squad.”

Armstrong keen to cement a first-team place

Speaking earlier this week, Armstrong admitted he’s trying to impress Moyes in the hope of remaining part of the first team.

“I think with the loan I’ve grown as a player, so I’m just trying to show different sides to my game and hopefully I can impress,” the 18-year-old told evertontv.

“I’m taking the approach of what’s best to happen will happen. I’m just seeing how it goes really and taking each day as it comes.”

Armstrong has been linked with another loan move after his productive stint at Derby County, so his future still remains up in the air.
