Everton’s signing of Adam Aznou is yet to work out, but it is clear that he is training with a point to prove this summer.
Movement has already been made at left-back this summer after Everton extended the contract of Vitalii Mykolenko.
The Ukraine international has become Everton’s nailed-on starter at left-back, with Aznou struggling for opportunities on Merseyside.
What would YOU do with Adam Aznou in the summer? 🤷♂️
This summer’s pre-season is going to prove pivotal in the Moroccan’s future as it provides a huge opportunity for him to impress David Moyes.

Why Adam Aznou has struggled at Everton
Having joined the Toffees from Bayern Munich in the back end of July 2025, it has proven a difficult 11 months for the youngster.
Aznou did not make a single appearance in the Premier League under Moyes despite making the matchday squad 22 times.
TalkingPoints users have shared their frustrations over Everton’s handling of Aznou following last summer’s efforts to secure his services.
The 20-year-old played a considerable amount of football in La Liga with Real Valladolid during the 2024/25 campaign.
Everton’s fixtures for 2026/27 have been released! What immediately caught your eye about them? 🤩
However, the message could not be clearer on Merseyside, with Moyes holding no trust in Aznou despite giving the green light to sign him last summer.
It has already been witnessed this season that Moyes holds major concerns over the physicality of some of his younger players.
Aznou may well fall into this category given his slight stature, but work is going into improving the left-back during this summer’s downtime.
What Adam Aznou is doing to prove a success at Everton this summer
Moyes has suggested Aznou needs to be ‘special’ to earn himself an opportunity in his squad at Everton.
The 20-year-old’s work ethic cannot be denied as he takes to social media to showcase what he has been getting up to away from Merseyside.
Sharing a story on his Instagram account, Aznou highlighted his training work on holding off opposition players with the ball at his feet, dribbling, crossing and shooting.
Moyes has demanded more attacking output from his full-backs over the last year, with Mykolenko not providing much at the other end of the pitch.
This is an area where Everton fans truly believe Aznou could provide the Toffees with something which the Ukrainian simply has not shown.
After the FA Cup game against Sunderland, James Garner urged Moyes to play Aznou more frequently after his cameo display changed the momentum of the game.

Aznou has a real opportunity to prove Moyes wrong this summer having now had 12 months in England and with a full pre-season programme ahead of him.
It must be stressed that Aznou has made it clear he’s unhappy with his Everton situation, but what player would be happy to simply watch from the bench for a full season?
Perhaps a decision has already been made on where Aznou’s future lies under Moyes and only time will tell.
However, it is a big positive to see the defender hard at work ahead of Everton’s return to Finch Farm in the coming weeks.
