Everton face some huge decisions on some of their out-of-contract players over the coming weeks.

David Moyes is well aware that the Toffees are going to need to keep some of these players.

The Friedkins may be prepared to fund Everton’s transfer window, but there is a limit as to how much work can be done in one summer.

Naturally, there will be a number of players who depart the club.

However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now said he’d like to stay at Everton as his own contract saga continues to unfold.

The striker has been out for months and played just a matter of minutes under the 62-year-old manager.

With a decision needing to be made on his future, Moyes has now reacted to the Everton striker’s comments.

What David Moyes said about Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future

Everton News understands Moyes would be keen to keep Calvert-Lewin at the club beyond this summer.

As his injury issues have kept him out for such a long period of time, questions are being asked about his future.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Moyes has now responded to the comments made by the 28-year-old striker.

“I think the way the team is playing, the opportunities they’re creating will give Dom a lot more hope that he wants to work his way back to the top again,” said Moyes.

“He’s part of that group of players that we will discuss with and see how things go in the coming weeks.”

“There’s not been a contract offer on the table since I’ve been here. I think the contract was offered under a different regime. So, we want everyone to fight for what they’re doing and show their worth.”

It has been suggested Calvert-Lewin’s agent has requested a meeting with Moyes to discuss a potential new deal for his client.

Calvert-Lewin has been linked with a number of other sides, but perhaps his injury record may now have the player considering staying on familiar turf.

Everton still eyeing new striker

Speaking to Everton News, TBR Football’s Chief Correspondent Graeme Bailey has insisted more attacking players will be on the radar for Everton.

“Everton are not discounting Calvert-Lewin signing a new deal – they also believed it was an option – even if he stays, they still want another forward anyway,” he said.

According to some reports, Everton are keen to sign Liam Delap from Saturday’s opposition.

The Toffees will get a good look at the young striker if he is to return to Kieran McKenna’s side on the weekend.

Regardless of whether Calvert-Lewin does end up staying, Everton are in desperate need of a reliable striker who can remain fit to provide a regular supply of goals.
