Everton’s dire situation up front is providing the Toffees with some real issues.
Wednesday night’s defeat against Aston Villa showed Everton’s struggles this season with some big opportunities missed to get on the scoresheet.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was criticised by Everton fans after he missed a huge chance late on in the game to secure a draw.
The striker is now entering the final months of his contract on Merseyside after years with the club.
But he remains a regular in the starting XI as David Moyes battles a host of injury issues at Goodison Park.
Speaking to Everton News, TBR Football’s Chief Transfer Correspondent Graeme Bailey has shared his latest understanding on Calvert-Lewin’s situation.

Everton hopeful of new contract for Dominic Calvert-Lewin
During the January transfer window, Calvert-Lewin has received interest from abroad with a pre-contract agreement an option for the striker.
However, Bailey has told Everton News his sources on Merseyside believe the Englishman could still ink a new deal before the end of the season.
“The belief in the club is that they can still get him to sign a new deal. With Moyes coming in, I think if they can get something going, they’re pretty confident,” said Bailey.
“But obviously he’s open to pre-contract and there’s interest there. But they haven’t totally given up on Calvert-Lewin, Everton, yet.”
Although unable to sign him to a pre-contract, it has also been suggested West Ham are keen on signing Calvert-Lewin.
Despite his mere return of just two goals in the Premier League this season, the Blues remain interested in extending his stay into the new stadium.
Calvert-Lewin’s performances are not warranting a new deal
Everton may well be open to securing the striker’s future with a new deal, his performances would not suggest he is worthy of one.
Calvert-Lewin has been criticised by Chris Sutton with the Englishman struggling to find the back of the net on a regular occurence.

Moyes has commented on Calvert-Lewin’s form, but he continued to start him ahead of Beto on Wednesday night.
After his frustrating miss against Villa, it leaves the 60-year-old with an interesting decision on who he should start up top against Tottenham Hotspur.
