Everton may have lost their hearing with Burnley over a £40m compensation claim, but an appeal has already been lodged.
The Friedkin Group have had a lot of financial issues to deal with since the takeover was completed back in 2024.
This is certainly another hurdle Everton will have to overcome as frustrations grow towards the Premier League and the three-person panel in question.

Everton are being backed by the Friedkins in their appeal, which is set to evaluate the model put in place to find the Toffees guilty.

Everton set to argue against Premier League model in Burnley appeal
It has been a strong response from Everton following the initial verdict that landed just a matter of weeks ago.
Everton have hired Slaughter and May to represent them in their appeal.
Speaking on The Football Boardroom podcast, former Liverpool CEO Christian Purslow has shed some light on what the Blues will look to argue against.
“It’s been described by many as effectively a coin flip verdict,” he said.
How are we being punished again by the Premier League? 😡
Everton ordered to pay Burnley £40m in compensation…
“And I think the appeal will, without doubt, dig into whether or not, really, a mathematical model establishing probabilities is the right way to think about the relationship between spending and results. There are many other things that contribute to a team’s results.”
There is an expectation that Everton’s appeal won’t be heard until 2027 and is expected to somewhat fade into the background slightly.
“Just think of Just think of a few off the top of my head, refereeing decisions, injuries, you name it. There’s an element of chaos to the way football plays out, which I think many people would feel more accurately reflects reality than a mathematical model. Let alone a mathematical model where the result was so close to 50/50,” Purslow added.
“I think it’s very clear that that will be honed in on by Everton’s lawyers in the appeal, and there’ll be other procedural aspects as well.”
The decision to award £40m to Burnley is certainly one that will have taken most across the Premier League by surprise.
Everton News understands that Everton’s summer budget will not be affected by the Burnley verdict, with the ruling not weighing up against the new SCR rules.
It is not the position Everton will want to be in having appeared to turn a page, but it is apparent that the club feel they have a strong case to be heard during their upcoming appeal.
