Everton are close to making Ernest Nuamah their first signing since appointing David Moyes.

Now 11 days into January, Everton have sacked Sean Dyche and moved on with their former manager Moyes.

It is time for the owners to turn their attention to signings with Everton in need of further reinforcement to turnaround their poor start to the season.

Everton are in advanced negotiations to sign Nuamah from Lyon this month, with the Toffees believed to be one step away from signing the winger.

Moyes will be looking for a boost to Everton’s attacking options as only Southampton have scored fewer this season in the Premier League.

Singing Nuamah will not just add to their options, but it could also act as another blow to John Textor at Lyon.

John Textor will not want Ernest Nuamah to leave for Everton

Everton’s interest in Nuamah is long-standing having made a move for the Ghanaian back in the summer.

A move to the Premier League fell through for Nuamah who remained at Lyon, and it was much to the delight of the club owner.

Speaking last September, Textor admitted he was thrilled to see Nuamah remain at Lyon last summer after his move to England broke down.

“I contacted Ernest [Nuamah] very quickly, I apologised, I learned a lot,” Textor in a press conference.

“He is a very valuable person. These kinds of decisions make players say that OL is a big club with extraordinary facilities, we are in the Europa League.”

Textor came seriously close to buy Everton before the Friedkins were able to rush and secure the keys to Goodison.

Having labelled Nuamah as ‘very valuable’, it seems the American will be hoping to keep a hold of the winger once again this month.

Nuamah left in tears after Lyon pushed England exit

With Fulham coming the closest to signing the winger last season, the youngster was left in tears over the proposed move.

L’equipe suggested the player felt he was being pushed out of the club for a move which he was not keen on.

However, it would seem this time around may run a lot smoother with the 21-year-old struggling for minutes in Ligue 1.

The Friedkins want to sign a new forward for Everton this month and it looks like they may just have their man.
