Roy Keane says something has changed about David Moyes as he makes his Everton return

Everton fans have seen The Friedkin Group’s takeover, Sean Dyche’s sacking and now David Moyes’ appointment in the space of a few weeks.

Considering it has been a really slow start to the season on the pitch, Everton have seen some significant changes made to turn that around.

Moyes has been offered a two-year deal by Everton after talks have taken place in the days following Dyche’s sacking.

The 60-year-old will be picking up Everton from 16th place in the Premier League table and without a league win this calendar year.

However, Moyes is expected to be handed January signings at Everton with Alan Shearer believing the Scotsman will have demanded additions.

Shearer is not the only pundit to have reacted to the news as Roy Keane also shared his thoughts on the appointment.

Roy Keane reacts to David Moyes’ Everton return

Moyes has decided to appoint Billy McKinlay as his Everton assistant as the Scotsman makes his return to Goodison after leaving back in 2013.

He does not have any easy job on his hands with the Toffees having only picked up three victories in the league.

But speaking on ITV Sport, Keane expects Moyes to pull Everton away from the bottom three in what is expected to be an assured appointment.

“There’ll be no surprises. Obviously, Dychey losing his job, so there’ll be no surprises with David, he’s a vastly experienced manager and I’m sure he’ll do a great job,” said Keane.

“He’s a safe pair of hands, someone that knows the place and he’s got a real feel for the place. So, hopefully they can get it right,” added Ian Wright.

When asked whether there is a danger in returning to a former side, Keane said:

“Sometimes, but I don’t think this time as David is going back, he’s a vastly experienced manager now. He’s managed over 1000 games, new stadium coming for Everton, they’re more than good enough to stay in the Premier League. So there’s a lot of positives,” the Irishman said.

Everton are eyeing two January signings this month and they need firepower up top with Moyes taking on a real headache up front.

But as Keane says, the 60-year-old is now a seriously experienced manager who will know what Everton need to turn things around.

Everton needed The Friedkin Group to make Sean Dyche decision

After such a poor run of form, it did not appear likely Dyche would be capable of turning things around at Goodison.

The Friedkins have shown their ruthless side already and that could be set to following with Everton expected to sack Kevin Thelwell next.

Even if Dyche was capable of keeping Everton in the top flight for the remainder of the season, his contract was due at the end of the campaign.

Dyche and the Friedkins spoke earlier in the week, but the conversation may have been summed up by his sacking just days later.

To offer Moyes a two-year deal would suggest there is some level of trust in the Scotsman which TFG were unwilling to show in Dyche.
