David Moyes has been appointed the new Everton manager on Saturday morning as he makes a sensational return to Goodison Park.

Everton fans will not have too long to wait to welcome back the 60-year-old as the Toffees face Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman managed Everton in the FA Cup on Thursday against League One side Peterborough United,

However, Moyes did not take Everton training on Saturday morning with Baines and Coleman continuing their short interim role.

But that does not mean the Scotsman is sat with his feet up in his new office, as work is already hard at work behind-the-scenes.

David Moyes putting together Everton coaching staff

Everton are working on a deal to sign Ernest Nuamah to provide their new manager with some attacking firepower.

But the 60-year-old is working on something different at Finch Farm ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League game.

According to Alan Myers, Moyes is expected to be working on putting his backroom staff together on Saturday after being appointed.

The opportunity to meet his players for the first time has been put on hold, for now.

Moyes’ announcement by the club did not mention any names to arrive on Merseyside with the manager.

‘Further announcements on David’s staff will follow in due course,’ the statement said.

Billy McKinlay is expected to become Moyes’ Everton assistant having spent time together at West Ham United.

But there is more needed than just an assistant coach.

Moyes could make some interesting Everton changes

Wednesday’s game against Aston Villa is going to provide an interesting view on some of the changes Moyes could make to the starting XI.

Jake O’Brien will be relishing life without Dyche after the young centre-back was frozen out by the 53-year-old.

Moyes will be arriving back at Goodison with an interesting decision to make up top.

Beto’s move to Torino has been paused following the latest round of injury issues to the three other strikers.

There are numerous players who should be embracing a fresh start under Moyes, so it will be interesting to see his first starting XI next week.
