What Thomas Frank has said about the Everton fans as he emerges as potential Sean Dyche successor

Many Everton fans remain hopeful that The Friedkin Group will soon replace Sean Dyche as manager.

The new owners gave Dyche their backing on arrival at the club, but results have remained poor and Saturday’s defeat to Bournemouth was especially bad, with the team having zero shots on target.

Bournemouth fans were even mocking Everton during the game, the performance of the visitors was that dismal.

Everton’s form this season has been alarming.

There has been a serious lack of threat up top, and the inability to score goals means Everton have only managed to amass 17 points in the Premier League.

The Friedkin Group have considered some managerial candidates to replace Dyche, so seemingly there is a chance he could soon go, despite their initial backing.

And one man Everton are said to like is Thomas Frank, which is interesting as he is someone who has had some very nice things to say about the Toffees.

The size and standing of Everton Football club is not lost on the current Brentford manager.

Thomas Frank was very complimentary about the Toffees when the sides met back in November.

The game at Goodison Park finished 0-0, with Frank’s prediction ahead of the game about the two teams cancelling each other out ringing true.

But Frank also had some big compliments about the Toffees ahead of that game, with the Dane paying tribute to the fans and the atmosphere they create at Goodison.

He said (via Brentford official): “They are extremely solid. I know they had a tough start where they lost their first four games; one defeat in their last seven says everything about them.

“Sean is a fantastic coach and manager. He always makes his team very difficult to play against. They are physical, intensive in pressing, they have pace on transitions, are very good on set-pieces, and they play behind you.”

“It’s an iconic ground (Goodison Park). So much history has happened in that ground. For me as a foreign manager coming into the Premier League and to England, it’s one of the grounds I most enjoy playing at.

“The atmosphere is just a little bit more special with some of these old grounds. I’m looking forward to going there on Saturday and hopefully, I can enjoy it more with a win.”

Thomas Frank would be a fantastic appointment by Everton

Realistically, there is probably very little chance that Frank leaves Brentford at this point in the season to join Everton.

You do get the sense with him that he’s not someone who’d walk out on the Bees when there is a job to be done there.

Thomas Frank’s record in the Premier League
Games managed – 134
Wins – 46
Draws – 33
Losses – 55
Goals scored – 200
Goals conceded – 202

But Frank is definitely somebody Everton should be looking at in the summer, with the club hopefully still in the Premier League.

What Frank has done at Brentford during his time there is nothing short of remarkable, and there is just a feeling now that he is ready for a new gig.

Perhaps Frank – who clearly has a lot of respect already for Everton – would be tempted by a move to Merseyside, given the club is now under new ownership and will have a new stadium from next season.
