The times are changing at Everton with The Friedkin Group now putting their own stamp on the club.

A lot has changed over recent weeks with David Moyes’ return to Merseyside transforming the club’s fortunes on the pitch.

Everton are flying in the Premier League with a healthy cushion developed on the relegation zone.

It took well over a year for Farhad Moshiri to find the right buyer for Everton with the takeover going through back in December.

The 69-year-old’s time at Everton will be looked back on as a mixed bag with the last few years being a real struggle at times.

But there is one moment in his tenure at Goodison Park which Simon Jordan feels saved the club from relegation.

Simon Jordan thinks Farhad Moshiri saved Everton from relegation

Moyes has been shocked by the financial state Everton were in when he made the return to Goodison Park.

It was a subtle dig towards Moshiri’s time at the club with the Blues still battling the drop when Moyes made his return.

However, speaking on TalkSPORT, Jordan has admitted that Moshiri’s decision to sack Frank Lampard was one which saved the Toffees from relegation.

“I don’t think he was great at Everton. However you cut and slice it, I don’t think he was,” said Jordan

“Well, I think they would have gotten relegated if Frank had stayed that season. We’ll never know because that’s a hypothesis. Sean Dyche kept them up, and the rest is history.”

Lampard lasted around a year on Merseyside with 44 games managed and an average of one point earned per game.

With Jordan criticising the former midfielder’s time at the club, Abdoulaye Doucoure has admitted he didn’t enjoy life under Lampard.

Frank Lampard is impressing as Coventry City manager

Lampard has now ended up as the Coventry City manager, and, to his credit, the 46-year-old has made a bright start to life back in the Championship.

The former Chelsea midfielder did pull off some positives on Merseyside with Lampard signing James Tarkowski at Everton.

But his time ultimately failed to impress with Everton second bottom when he was sacked in January, 2023.

However, he has made a positive start at Coventry with the Sky Blues flying up the table and into the play-off spots.
