Everton will be hoping Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur will return more than their loss on Wednesday.
David Moyes’ task became very clear as he watched his Everton side lose against Aston Villa.
Although the Toffees cannot mathematically drop into the bottom three ahead of Sunday’s return to Goodison Park, they sit uncomfortably close.
Moyes praised the Everton fans ahead of the game and he was left feeling their pain after the game as he saw first hand the issues with the club.
Since landing on Merseyside, The Friedkin Group have looked to bring stability to Everton but there are major changes needed.
And Moyes has taken a swipe at former owner Farhad Moshiri after the defeat.

What David Moyes said about Farhad Moshiri after Everton loss
Ahead of the game on Wednesday, Paul Merson questioned Moyes’ Everton appointment as he expected the 60-year-old to suffer the same issues as Sean Dyche.
That did prove to be the case against Villa with the Toffees failing once again to find the back of the net.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Moyes suggested Moshiri’s financial failings have cost this side on the pitch.
“You can definitely see over the years that the financial situation has played its part on the pitch and that’s the outcome. All the supporters are aware of that,” he said.
“Obviously it’s been a bit of a whirlwind. Sean Dyche left a group of players that have great character and a great attitude, I’m really pleased to take over that.
“What I need to do is add quality and find a way of getting results but you can’t change the whole thing around straight away.”
Moyes has already taken a swipe at Moshiri after being announced as the new manager with Sean Dyche also on the receiving end.
But the 60-year-old can certainly sympathise with Dyche for the financial struggles endured during his time at Goodison.
Moyes wants January signings at Everton
After being appointed over the weekend, Moyes has identified two signings for Everton to make before the end of the window.
And it has been made apparent in his interviews and press conferences since landing back at Goodison that he wants the new owners to act.
“I think it’s really important if we can add some of that quality and give the players a little lift as well,” he said on Wednesday night.
Quality is going to be needed for Everton and that is not considering the potential outgoings this month.
Beto has interested clubs in Italy who would be willing to give him a return to Serie A, but player sales will surely be the last thing on Moyes’ mind.
