Everton were not able to take all three points from Brentford on Wednesday night but they were able to secure themselves a draw.

David Moyes’ side were made to battle for a result after conceding late in the first half to find themselves trailing at the break.

There has been plenty of reasons for optimism at Everton over recent weeks with results taking a big improvement under the 61-year-old.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank said Everton did not create many chances despite Beto missing three one-on-one opportunities during the 90 minutes.

Although the chances were there for the Toffees to leave with all three points, fans will be pleased to see another game pass by without defeat.

In the process of Jake O’Brien’s header securing a draw for the Blues, it also equalled a record which has not been matched on Merseyside since 2017.

Everton equal unbeaten run of 2017 under Sam Allardyce

Moyes was left furious with Jack Harrison against Brentford with the winger’s final ball leaving a lot to be desired.

But there was a real moment of quality from O’Brien which prevented Everton’s first loss in the league since the middle of January.

Everton have now gone seven games in the Premier League unbeaten for the first time since 2017.

Under manager Sam Allardyce, the Toffees were able to put together an impressive run during the 2017/18 campaign.

And the result on Wednesday night saw the Blues match that record for the first time in seven years.

Brentford’s Yoane Wissa was impressed with Everton as he admitted they proved a tricky outfit to play against in west London.

But the Blues will now be able to enjoy a well-deserved rest as Everton jet off to the Middle East for a warm-weather training camp.

David Moyes wants Everton fighting for Europe

Since returning to Merseyside, Moyes has proven a lot of pundits wrong with the Scotsman turning Everton’s form around completely.

It has been night and day compared to what Everton were doing under Sean Dyche.

However, Moyes does not want the club to be in a position where they are concerned by a threat of relegation.

“I don’t really want to be someone who comes in to save the club from relegation. I want to be a manager who competes for Europe like I have been in three years prior to this,” he said to TNT Sports after the game.

“But let’s be honest Everton were in a terrible position. We are looking up rather down. We have been disappointed with getting a draw tonight and should have picked up more on Saturday.”
