Everton have a number of talented young players on the books at the moment – and one who recently left the club has received some extremely high praise following his latest display.
The Toffees are in a new era now following the takeover of the club by The Friedkin Group in December.
The Friedkin Group will provide David Moyes with a healthy transfer budget for the summer, and fans are very excited about potential incomings.
Of course, Everton need to ensure they remain in the top-flight before thoughts turn to transfer business.
But another thing The Friedkin Group are going to be prioritising at Everton is the academy, and the development of youth.
At the moment, there are lots of talented youngsters on the books at Finch Farm, with several out on loan at clubs in the Football League.
Charlie Whitaker never got the chance to head out on loan and recently left Everton, and the verdict his manager dropped yesterday may have David Moyes feeling slightly uncomfortable
Former Everton gem Charlie Whitaker now branded ‘absolutely incredible’ after first senior goal for Notts County

Charlie Whitaker left Everton last month, joining Notts County on a free transfer.
He had joined Everton at the age of 12, but the decision was made for him to depart and play for the League Two side.
This, after scoring seven goals in nine games in PL2 for Everton this season.
Whitaker has quickly made an impact for Notts County and yesterday against Morecambe United, he got on the scoresheet for his first goal in senior football.
According to the Irvine Times, Whitaker was ‘a handful throughout’, and the publication have also published quotes from County head coach Stuart Maynard on the youngster’s performance.
He said: “But what a performance from young Charlie Whitaker, absolutely incredible and the subs made a big impact.”
Whitaker took his goal quite well, driving the ball through a gap after a parry out by Morecambe goalkeeper Ryan Schofield.
Everton could regret losing Whitaker
So Whitaker has opened his account in senior football and it’s a proud moment for him, his family and everyone at Everton who has helped him on his journey to this point.
That game against Morecambe was his fourth appearance for the club, and he’s now started the last two games.
Seemingly, Whitaker – an attacking midfielder who can also play out wide – is impressing early doors and it will be interesting to see how he gets on at Meadow Lane following his exit from Everton.
He has only signed a six-month contract, but more performances like the one against Morecambe will inevitably lead to an extension.
