Everton saw many players leave the club this summer, with Abdoulaye Doucoure being a part of the exodus.

The Mali international brought to an end his five-year association with the club, after there was no agreement between player and club over an extension.

Everton had shown interest in keeping Abdoulaye Doucoure, but the player’s wage demands were thought to be excessive.

Doucoure had hinted his exit was coming at Everton with the way he waved to the crowd during Everton’s final game at Goodison Park against Southampton.

And sure enough, the club announced he would be moving on.

Since then, fans have been curious to see where Doucoure will head – and it looks as though the player has made his choice.

Doucoure was touted for a possible move to one of the promoted Premier League clubs earlier this summer.

But the 32-year-old will be heading overseas.

It was reported recently that SC Neom were in talks with Doucoure over a possible free transfer.

It was claimed the Saudi outfit had offered the player a two-and-a-half-year lucrative contract to play in the Middle East.

And it seems those talks have been productive, because Foot Mercato are now reporting that Doucoure will indeed join the SPL club.

‘Everything is complete’ say the French publication, so seemingly there will be an official announcement very soon.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could be solid Doucoure replacement

Few Evertonians will begrudge Doucoure a move to Saudi, where he will now be on mega money.

It was the right decision for Everton not to cave to his wage demands, as there is potential for a decline to happen soon, given his age.

There were arguably already signs in 2024/25 that Doucoure wasn’t as good as in previous seasons, so an exit this summer was the right move for all parties.

And Everton potentially have a good replacement for Doucoure now in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Dewsbury-Hall impressed on his Everton debut against AS Roma on Saturday, and he has the legs and engine that may make him somewhat similar to Doucoure.

Moyes has already praised Dewsbury-Hall, and there is a feeling that Everton have done good business by snapping him up for under £30 million.
