Alan Myers has now shared what’s actually happening with Malick Fofana amid strong Everton rumours.
David Moyes is in the market for a winger and has made it a top priority with the 2025/26 Premier League season fast approaching.
With that said, Everton have been eyeing Takefuso Kubo and a bid is reportedly being readied for the Real Sociedad playmaker.
Malick Fofana has been on Moyes’ radar for much of the summer window and now that transfer appears to be gathering real pace.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that talks are advanced with the jet-heeled Lyon wideman, but that information is conflicting with what Alan Myers has heard.

Alan Myers provides clarity on Everton’s interest in Malick Fofana
Fofana has been linked to several top clubs this summer and Nottingham Forest were reportedly one of the clubs keen to land his signature.
However, it came to light that the Belgian only wanted Champions League football, making a move to the City Ground unlikely.
So, when Romano reported that Everton were in advanced talks to sign the 20-year-old, it came as a surprise to many.
Myers has since come out and poured a little bit of cold water on the rumour, noting that it’s ‘premature’ to say a deal is close.
Lyon want £43m for Fofana
Myers then followed up his initial post and reported that Lyon are demanding a whopping £43m package for Fofana, which is some way off Everton’s initial bid of around £31.5m.
“OL are looking for around €45M plus €5M add ons for Fofana, I’m told Everton have a chance of securing the player if they get close enough to the fee required,” the journalist explained.
“Bayern Munich have an interest, (the two clubs meet each other in a friendly next weekend).”
With Bayern Munich circling and Chelsea having held an interest previously, there is still plenty of legwork to do on this transfer for the Toffees.
Although, Moyes can offer regular first-team football, which he likely wouldn’t get at the Bundesliga champions.
