David Moyes will have a monumental job on his hands to get Everton out of the relegation fight this season.

Moyes will know how difficult a job he’s taken at Everton, as there is plenty of improvement needed at Goodison Park.

The Toffees manager hopes to strengthen in January, as Moyes could sign three players at Everton during this window.

Aside from transfer recruitment, another focus for the new boss will be his coaching staff, as Kevin Nolan ruled out a reunion with Moyes.

With all factors considered, there is one area Moyes will need to get the best out of.

Moyes identified Seamus Coleman as a ‘valuable’ player in his Everton dressing room, but he’ll struggle to name many more.

There was a lack of cohesion under Sean Dyche, as many Everton players ‘sneered’ at Dyche for his managerial style.

That will be the last thing Moyes will want, as Ally McCoist has assessed the Everton players and their chances of staying in the Premier League.

Speaking to TalkSport (13/01/2025 – 06:54 am), McCoist said: “I think they might just have a Premier League squad. There are three worse squads than Everton.

“The personnel isn’t good enough, I think they’re a mile short.

“I’d hope that they would have a reaction to Moyes coming in, whether it’s Dyche or Moyes, they’re in a big fight.

“I think they’ll stay up and I think they would’ve with Dyche in charge as well.”

Everton have proven they can turn up in the Premier League

It might be a surprising thing to say, but Everton have had solid performances This season.

Although they’ve only won three games in the top flight this campaign, they have been fairly strong performances.

One element that Moyes has to his advantage, is that the Toffees have had convincing wins in the league this season which the likes of Southampton, Leicester, and Ipswich have lacked.

West Ham are also struggling this season as Richard Keys said Everton are in better shape after Moyes’ appointment.

Moyes may not have the best squad in the world, but they have proven success, which the new Everton boss can use to his advantage.
