Everton have seen their director of football Kevin Thelwell announced as the latest addition at Glasgow Rangers.

It has been public knowledge for a number of months now that Thelwell would be leaving Merseyside at the end of his contract.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Thelwell would join Rangers over the summer as he moves on from Everton.

The Friedkins have been proven right in their managerial decision to bring David Moyes back to Goodison Park earlier in the year.

Thelwell will be chucked straight into another managerial search when he lands at Ibrox after Barry Ferguson took on the Rangers role on an interim basis.

Ahead of his move north of the border, Rangers have been encouraged to make a move for one man Thelwell will know very well from his time at Everton.

Rangers urged to hire former Everton boss Sean Dyche

It has been a few months since Sean Dyche found himself without a job following a dismal first half of the season on Merseyside.

Everton News understands Dyche does not have too many suitors currently following his Everton sacking.

With the 53-year-old still looking for a job, Thelwell has been urged to reunite with his old Everton colleague in Glasgow.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Ally McCoist has admitted he’d appoint Dyche at Ibrox in a heartbeat this summer.

“I’d take Sean all day,” said McCoist.

“Sean Dyche is an excellent manager, excellent manager! It’s one of these things where what Sean did at Burnley was nothing short of remarkable.”

Everton fans have wished Thelwell the best after hearing the news of his move to Ibrox following some difficult years in charge of Everton’s transfers.

However, the message may not be the same for their former manager if he was to make the move up to Glasgow with Thelwell.

Dyche has been criticised since leaving Everton

The difference Moyes has made at Goodison is there for all to see.

And it has been made apparent that some of the players were not overly fond of the 53-year-old either.

Jake O’Brien lifted the lid on his relationship with Dyche and admitted that the pair did not see eye to eye very often.

Dyche’s decision not to play O’Brien has not reflected well on him as the Ireland international has gone on to impress under Moyes.

However, he could well be similar to Brendan Rodgers who could thrive up in Scotland, but Rangers fans would have to potentially concede playing any form of attractive football if he was to be apppinted.
