Everton are expected to sign a new striker this summer transfer window.

David Moyes has been eyeing Troy Parrott, Alexander Sorloth and Liam Delap, to name a few, but there is one number nine who keeps getting linked.

Levante’s Karl Etta Eyong has been on Everton’s radar for some time, and it’s being reported that he is prioritising a move to the Premier League.

Everton target Karl Etta Eyong has incredible football IQ

Writing on the Total Football Analysis website, analyst Bola Atta spoke about how intelligent Etta Eyong is, with his movement a particular strength.

“What makes Eyong special isn’t simply his pace or strength; it’s how intelligently he applies them,” Atta wrote about the Everton target.

“His movement between the lines, pressing triggers, and capacity to stretch defences have added a new layer to Levante’s attacking identity.

“As clubs across Europe examine La Liga more closely for undervalued talent, Eyong stands out as a player whose tactical maturity is developing as fast as his reputation.”

The analyst also noted that Etta Eyong is a very accurate ball striker and often catches goalkeepers out at the near post.

“He prefers receiving on the half-turn, using his body to protect the ball from pressure.

“Inside the box, his finishing is minimalistic, with a quick setup, small back-lift, often targeting the near post with low-driven efforts.

“He rarely overcomplicates actions; instead, he prioritises efficiency and rhythm.”

Etta Eyong still needs to improve decision-making

There are areas of Etta Eyong’s game that still require improvement, which is natural considering he’s only 22-years-old.

Atta believes his decision-making can be quite hit and miss, particularly in big moments.

“Despite Karl Etta Eyong’s growing influence in Levante’s attack, several technical and cognitive aspects of his game still need refinement to elevate him from a promising striker to a decisive one at the La Liga level.

“Eyong’s most significant developmental focus lies in selecting the right option under pressure.

“While his positional intelligence enables him to find excellent spaces between defenders, his choices once he receives the ball are occasionally rushed or over-elaborate.”
