Everton will be paying close attention to Anthony Gordon’s current transfer saga.

Just years on from leaving Everton, the 25-year-old winger is forcing his way out of Newcastle United.

Bayern Munich have been keen to sign Gordon, but it appears as if Barcelona may well be leading the race for his signature.

Although Gordon is keen to join Barcelona, the Catalan side’s view on Newcastle’s asking price may be a concern for Everton.

Barcelona unwilling to match Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon valuation

Gordon’s agent has already spoken to Barcelona whilst the Premier League season was still being played.

Mundo Deportivo has claimed Gordon is keen on making the move to join La Liga champions Barcelona over the coming weeks.

However, there is one significant issue as far as Everton are concerned.

Everton hold a 15 per cent sell-on clause in Gordon’s deal, which only covers the profit the Toon make on the winger.

Barcelona, on the other hand, are not willing to meet Newcastle’s £80m asking price for Gordon, with a heavy discount required by the Spanish champions.

This, therefore, will eat away at the potential windfall Everton receive through the sell-on clause.

Liverpool enter race for Anthony Gordon

Everton supporters do not particularly like Gordon following the manner in which he engineered his exit from the club back in 2023.

The boyhood Liverpool supporter has made his stance known after aiming for a move to Anfield in recent months.

Liverpool hold an interest in Gordon again this summer, with the report from Spain accounting for their place in the pursuit of the England international.

Although the Reds could potentially offer Everton a greater sum through their sell-on clause, seeing Gordon play for Liverpool would not go down well on Merseyside.

Perhaps it would be best if he secured a move abroad.
