Everton may have missed their opportunity to sign Guela Doue after showing long-term interest in the right-back.
It is no secret that Everton are looking to sign a new right-back this summer following another season of Jake O’Brien playing out of position.
David Moyes has been on the lookout for a new right-back ever since he made his return to Merseyside last year.
Everton need a transfer budget of at least _________ this summer
Fill in the blank…
Doue is a player Everton have been eyeing since January, but their failure to sign him over the winter may have cost them a shot at the Ivorian.

Everton may have blown their opportunity to sign Guela Doue
Ahead of the window opening next week, Everton have been monitoring Doue once again as an option to improve their options at right-back.
The 23-year-old is just one of the options for Everton, but there is a feeling that they may have missed the boat in the race to land him.
A report from The Athletic has claimed that Everton may now struggle to challenge for Doue against some of his other potential suitors.
If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰
The Ivory Coast international is not expected to be a cheap target and is expected to leave Strasbourg over the coming months.
Whilst playing at the World Cup, there is also the possibility that Doue’s price tag increases even further with some impressive displays.
Serious investment is going to be needed in this position over the summer following Seamus Coleman’s departure and the expectation that Nathan Patterson will leave Everton.
Right-back is arguably Everton’s biggest weakness, with a 6ft 6in centre-back having played 31 times this season out of position.
However, the concern from Everton’s perspective now is their limited budget is needing to be stretched over a number of positions.
Right-back may well be the priority for Moyes and the recruitment team, but the club’s focus on the new SCR regulations may well restrict them in their pursuit of Doue.
Having monitored the right-back for months, any hesitancy over signing him in January has certainly not paid off.
