Beto could soon achieve something special that no other Everton player has managed since 2020

Everton fans have been delighted watching Beto become a player reborn at Goodison Park in recent times.

The Toffees have enjoyed a brilliant past couple of months since the arrival of David Moyes.

Everton are no longer thinking about relegation after a fantastic run of six games without defeat – with four of those being victories.

And one man who has been key to Everton’s renaissance is Beto, a player who could barely get a look in under Sean Dyche.

The Guinea-Bissau international was always someone fans had wanted to do well, but he never quite had the true backing from the former manager.

But it’s all change now for Beto, who stands to potentially achieve something quite rare in the coming days.

It has been a really strong month of February so far for Beto, who simply has to be in with a shout of being at least nominated for the Premier League’s upcoming Player of the Month award.

So far this month, Beto has played four games in the Premier League.

He made a great start to the month by scoring a brace against Leicester City, which was a sign of things to come.

He followed that up with a goal against Liverpool in the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park, which was potentially his best performance in an Everton shirt to date.

Days later, Beto scored again against Crystal Palace in another fine display. After that game, Alan Shearer praised Beto’s budding partnership with Carlos Alcaraz.

And then on Saturday, Beto grabbed his fifth goal of the month against Manchester United.

Everton have one final game this month against Brentford on Wednesday, and Beto – a £25 million signing (Sky Sports) – could genuinely have a great chance of actually winning Player of the Month if he scores or simply puts in an influential performance against the Bees.

And that would be a real rarity.

The last time an Everton player won a Premier League Player of the Month award was all the way back in September 2020 when Dominic Calvert-Lewin won.

He will likely face stern competition from a player just across the city though, with Mo Salah having again been in fine fettle for Liverpool.

Beto admits he nearly left Everton

Should Beto need up winning Player of the Month, it would mark a truly remarkable turnaround, for a player who may not have been at the club.

Beto recently admitted he could have left Everton, given he wasn’t playing under Dyche.

Beto had strong interest from Torino during the January transfer window, and he could have departed in search of regular football.

But the appointment of Moyes was what kept him put.

Beto has hailed Moyes’ impact on him, and now, Beto looks like he was the answer to Everton’s big issue all along.
