Everton were hamstrung over the January transfer window with only one new face coming through the doors on Merseyside.
Carlos Alcaraz joined the Toffees from Flamengo, but only on an initial loan until the end of the season.
David Moyes has been really impressed with Alcaraz since the Argentine touched down at Goodison Park.
The early signs have been very positive for the midfielder who has been taking his opportunities in the starting XI in Abdoulaye Doucoure’s absence.
Filipe Luis has admitted he was upset to see Alcaraz leave Flamengo over the January transfer window with a real feeling of unfinished business.
But the 22-year-old’s future is not necessarily on Merseyside with the Blues needing to trigger his permanent clause in their deal.

Carlos Alcaraz wants to remain at Everton
Alcaraz has already hailed the Everton fans who have been singing his name in the few appearances he has made since signing in January.
It has been a bright start to life at Everton for Alcaraz who has already provided a goal and assist for the Toffees.
Speaking to the Everton website, Alcaraz has admitted he would like to sign permanently for the Blues over the summer.
“I try not to think too much about the loan, the objectives and so on,” he said.
“I try to keep a cool head, to be patient, but I know that if I do things right, things will take care of themselves.
“It would be great to stay here because the Club, the institution, the fans… they’re great. It’s very crazy but that’s why I’m very calm and will keep doing the work I’ve been doing and show what type of player I am.”
Everton are not expected to take Alcaraz’s £15m option, with Kevin Thelwell already eyeing a lower price for the midfielder.
But as the 22-year-old continues to impress on the pitch, it is apparent he is making a really good impression on his return to the Premier League.
Carlos Alcaraz struggling with the English language
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has helped Alcaraz to settle into life on Merseyside as the Argentina international looks to help his compatriot.
The Liverpool midfielder is not the only person helping Alcaraz.
Everton’s Jack Harrison is also aiding Alcaraz with personal matters as he is able to speak some Spanish.
But the Argentine has admitted he is finding it difficult to fully understand the English language spoken on Merseyside.
“It’s a bit difficult, the English I hear here is a bit complicated but if you speak to me slowly, I understand a lot,” Alcaraz said.
“Then, as everyone saw in the video I did for social media, I find it a bit difficult to speak, but it’s going well.”
