Everton will be returning to Merseyside very pleased with another victory under their belt against Crystal Palace.

On his first start for the Toffees, Carlos Alcaraz scored a late winner before celebrating in front of the away end at Selhurst Park.

David Moyes will be delighted after pulling 13 points clear of the bottom three with the victory over the Eagles.

The fight and spirit Everton are showing cannot go unnoticed with the Blues really impressing the managers they are coming up against.

After calming down, Arne Slot praised Everton and Moyes for their showing in the Merseyside Derby.

On Saturday, it was Oliver Glasner’s turn to praise the Blues with one player seriously impressing him.

Oliver Glasner wowed by Everton striker Beto

James Tarkowski praised Beto’s display against Palace as he opened the scoring for the Toffees in the first half.

And it was apparent Glasner felt his defenders really struggled to deal with the in-form Portuguese forward.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the Austrian manager waxed lyrical about Beto who proved too strong and fast to deal with.

“The distances were too big and Beto did a great job today and they could play in our half and the final third and then they had some set plays and that is how they scored the second goal,” said the Palace boss.

“It is not a game we should lose. We had opportunities to win it and we lost the game at Everton in a similar way. It was not what we wanted but we have to accept it and we have to learn from these games.”

Prior to the game, Glasner compared Everton with Real Madrid following the two sides’ games during the week.

Although Everton did not quite play to that standard, Beto is showing the form of a striker which a lot of clubs across Europe would love to have on their side.

Beto belongs in the Premier League

Over the January transfer window, Beto received a lot of interest from Torino who wanted to bring him back to Italy.

Injuries at Everton meant any exit for the striker was put on hold until at least the summer.

But the form Beto is showing from the starting XI is showing he has the potential to become the long-term option up front for the Blues.

Beto wanted to return to Serie A in January, but it seems he is now settled in England and wants to prove his worth to the Evertonians.

“Now I feel all my training and all my mental work and all the work I do with my teammates is paying off,” he told BBC Sport.

“Now, I believe. I believe that I belong in the Premier League and I’m a Premier League player.”
