Everton fans will be excited to see what business the Friedkins are able to approve in the summer transfer window.

January did not prove an overly exciting month of transfers for David Moyes, with only one new player coming through the doors at Finch Farm.

However, Kevin Thelwell has mooted an exciting summer transfer window to come at Everton with a brighter future regarding PSR.

It has been a difficult few years on Merseyside with Moyes shocked by how PSR affected Everton in the January transfer window.

Sales have been needed over recent windows to balance the books with the Toffees falling short of the Premier League regulations.

But there is one player who Everton missed out on last summer who they may now be living to regret.

Everton missed out on signing Yankuba Minteh

Last summer, Everton showed an interest in Yankuba Minteh in what was reported to be a proposed deal in the region of £30m.

Minteh was one of the two players Newcastle United identified to be sold to ease their own PSR woes last summer.

However, the exciting, young winger ended up joining Brighton & Hove Albion where he has gone on to flourish.

After scoring twice on Friday night against Chelsea, Jamie Carragher waxed lyrical about the 20-year-old from Gambia.

“Minteh has the potential to be a real star,” Carragher said whilst commentating for Sky Sports at the Amex Stadium.

“Minteh and Baleba are really close for Player of the Match but I’m going to go with Mitoma.”

Perhaps most frustrating for the Toffees is Minteh approved a move to Everton with his time on Tyneside coming to an end.

But the Blues can now only sit back and watch the youngster develop on the south coast as he tears the likes of Chelsea’s defence apart.

Yankuba Minteh would have been a huge Jack Harrison upgrade

Jack Harrison’s Everton form has been really disappointing this season as the Leeds United loanee still searches for his first goal contribution.

The winger has lost his spot in the starting XI following Moyes’ return to Merseyside.

And signing a player like Minteh could have really provided Everton with a big upgrade with the Toffees struggling for goals prior to Moyes’ appointment.

Everton wanted to sign a new forward in January and with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye out through injury, the Blues really could do with a player of Minteh’s quality.
