David Moyes already wants upgrade for Everton summer signing who’s ‘not good enough’

Just one game now stands in between Everton and the January transfer window with a trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Some interesting selection decisions lie in front of David Moyes as he battles a number of injury issues still.

Last time out against Burnley, Everton looked toothless, with Jack Grealish the latest player to be missing from the side.

Everton News columnist Alan Myers hopes for three Everton signings in January to really help kick this side on in the second half of the season.

After an excellent run of form in the Premier League, Everton have struggled and have actually failed to even score since their win over Forest earlier in the month.

Although Angus Kinnear has shared Everton’s January transfer stance, Moyes has made it clear that one position must be improved.

What David Moyes said about Everton’s Thierno Barry

Thierno Barry was dropped by Moyes against Burnley, with the Frenchman making way for Beto to make a rare start.

The reality is the 23-year-old may have scored against Forest earlier in the month, but he has still only scored one goal in an Everton shirt.

Speaking ahead of the game at the City Ground, Moyes has admitted that he is still looking for much more from his summer signing.

“I think he’s played well. Some games, even against Burnley when he came on he forces a really good save. Look, I think he’s improved,” said Moyes.

“We’ve tried to give him a run of games to give him that confidence, but ultimately any of the centre-forwards have got to score goals because if you’re a number nine, I think Barry’s got one and Beto’s got one. That’s not good enough and we need to find more goals.”

It has been suggested that Moyes is desperate to fix his striker issues at Everton in the January transfer window.

And he is certainly making his feelings known publicly just days out from the window opening.

Thierno Barry could already be replaced at Everton

Clearly, for as much as Barry has improved, the 23-year-old is still way off the pace to be viewed as a reliable striker to take Everton forward.

Since he scored against Forest, Moyes has noticed a more confident Barry, but that has not translated to any more goals in the Premier League.

Name some things more likely than Thierno Barry scoring 11+ goals this season… 😬

He'd need some second half to the term to reach those numbers…

Returning one goal at this stage of the season simply isn’t good enough for any striker.

Everton have been linked with Artem Dovbyk from The Friedkin Group’s AS Roma in recent weeks and a host of other names.

Perhaps Barry could benefit from learning from an experienced forward who could land on Merseyside and offer an instant impact for Moyes.

Clearly, Moyes is not exactly thrilled with the output from his strikers.
