Everton are back in Premier League action on Monday night against Leeds United – and David Moyes has one particularly tricky dilemma.
After the win over Aston Villa, the mood has been good around Everton.
The club are in a promising position and sit just four points off the top four at the moment.
Everton are back at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday night to host Leeds, and it’ll be a tough game with Daniel Farke’s side having improved lately.
Who would you play at left wing in place of the injured Jack Grealish? 🤔
The winger is reportedly facing THREE months out – do Everton need to sign a replacement?
Farke was on the brink of the sack, but changed the system and started getting points on the board.
So Everton will need to work hard for three points here – and Moyes’ team against Leeds will be fascinating given the return of key players.
Jack Grealish can’t play due to injury which gives Moyes a dilemma. But arguably, there’s an even bigger conundrum for the manager involving who to pick in midfield.
Merlin Rohl or Idrissa Gana Gueye vs Leeds is big headache for David Moyes

Against Villa, Everton’s midfield was superb.
James Garner was probably the standout. But both Harrison Armstrong and Merlin Rohl were excellent too.
Garner is nailed on to start against Leeds and Armstrong probably has a very good chance too, having done well as the most advanced midfielder.
But it will be fascinating to see if Rohl gets the nod again against Leeds because of course, Idrissa Gana Gueye is available again now after returning from AFCON.
Everton fans, let’s hear your score predictions for the Leeds United game!
Can the Toffees build on that brilliant win vs Aston Villa? 🤔
Gueye is a key player for Everton due to how much energy and tenacity he brings to the side.
But Rohl gave his best performance in an Everton shirt against Villa, and it would be extremely harsh to drop him.
So it’s definitely a dilemma for Moyes; does he reward Rohl for the display against Villa, or does he bring Gueye back in and halt Rohl’s momentum while also potentially leaving the youngster frustrated.
Rohl should start vs Leeds
This might be the most uncomfortable call for Moyes for the game against Leeds.
But there is a strong argument for Rohl keeping his place.
We know how effective Gueye can be. But he’s come back having featured heavily at AFCON with Senegal, and maybe it would be wise not to throw the veteran straight back in.

Obviously he has an amazing engine even at his age. But Gueye may benefit from not starting against Leeds.
Ultimately, Rohl deserves a chance to build on his Villa performance, having not had much of an opportunity
To drop him immediately perhaps doesn’t send out the best message, and Moyes should perhaps not try to fix what isn’t currently broken.
