Everton manager David Moyes was left shocked this week after what he had discovered about Iliman Ndiaye.
It has been a testing couple of games for Everton, who tasted defeat in the Merseyside Derby and away to Wolves.
Moyes came under scrutiny for his team selection on Tuesday night following their Carabao Cup exit.
There have, however, been a number of positives to take from the early stages of the 2025/26 campaign.
Jack Grealish has received a lot of praise from pundits across the league following his loan move from Manchester City.
The attacking line has shown a lot to get excited about, despite the goals failing to flow over the last three games.
Following the game away to Liverpool last weekend, Moyes admitted there was something that really surprised him about Ndiaye.

What Iliman Ndiaye has just done for Everton has shocked David Moyes
Gary Lineker was wowed by Ndiaye in the Merseyside Derby last Saturday after he helped to drag the Blues back into the game.
The Senegal international provided the assist for Idrissa Gana Gueye’s goal in the second half.
That assist was Ndiaye’s first for Everton, which left Moyes stunned when he spoke to the press on Friday from Finch Farm.
“Yeah, I think I did check that last year that his assists weren’t that high actually,” Moyes said.
“So, we’re hoping that he does [provide more], but he has been getting on the end of things and scoring for himself. Let’s hope that continues.”
Jamie Carragher expected Ndiaye to cause Liverpool issues, and that’s exactly what the Senegal international did.
However, it is certainly a surprise to hear that was his first assist for the club after such a strong 2024/25 campaign.
Everton need Ndiaye’s goals amid striker struggles
Ndiaye may have struggled to put assists on the board during his time on Merseyside, but there may be a reason behind that.
Even Moyes has admitted he’s disappointed in Beto, who has struggled to pick up any consistency of late.
Everton News understands that Everton are looking at Josh Sargent as a potential January addition to bolster their attacking line.
If Everton could land a player of real quality to upgrade on the likes of Beto then perhaps Ndiaye may be able to tally up more assists.
