Everton are struggling with a lack of first-team options but Adam Aznou may have given his manager something to think about going forward.

The Toffees were dumped out of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon as David Moyes fielded a limited side due to some significant absences.

January has not been kind to Everton both on and off the pitch, with the Blues still waiting on their first signing of the window.

For now, Moyes hopes for the Friedkins to sign some players, but the 62-year-old is not convinced he will see new faces land at Finch Farm.

There are a number of Everton’s summer signings who are yet to really make an impact under Moyes this season.

However, Aznou certainly took his opportunity when he was handed a chance in the second half on the docks.

What David Moyes said about Adam Aznou after Everton vs Sunderland

It has been suggested recently that Everton could loan out Aznou for the left-back to pick up more regular minutes in the starting XI.

What the Moroccan showed on Saturday afternoon should be more than enough for the club to think again about his short-term future on Merseyside.

Speaking to the media after the game, Moyes admitted he liked what he saw from Aznou, but shared what he needs to improve.

Aznou surely has to be handed more minutes after THAT display…😫

“Well we played him in a different role when we brought him on,” said Moyes.

“We put him higher up more as a left-winger. The competition to play in those roles are very, very high. So, that makes it less likely in some ways, but I was very pleased for Adam as he’s a good boy.

“He’s got bits about him which are ready, just physically to be a left-back in the Premier League is where we’re seeing him need to develop.”

Earlier in the week, Aznou shared his Everton frustrations on social media as he commented on a post asking why he wasn’t being handed a chance.

Well, he was offered a small opportunity against the Mackems and he took it with both hands to help send the game the distance.

Everton may have their left-back answer

There is surely no Everton fan out there who has watched Vitaliy Mykolenko for months and feel Aznou could not offer him some competition at left-back.

Of course, Moyes gets to watch the youngster in training on a daily basis, but more is needed from the left-back spot.

Vitaliy Mykolenko’s contract expires in the summer, what should Everton do with him? 🤔

Offer him a new deal? Let him go for free? Sell him in January?

Everton are keen to sign a new right-back in the January window as they are also suffering from a lack of attacking threat on the other side of defence.

It has been suggested that Mykolenko will be handed a new deal at Everton, but his spot in the starting XI should not be secure.

What fans saw from Aznou after coming on from the bench can rival anything Mykolenko has shown this season in an Everton shirt.
