The January transfer window has become so important for Everton and David Moyes on the back of the recent run of results.

Everton are yet to open their account in the winter market, but Wednesday’s draw against Wolves may act as the final straw for the 62-year-old manager.

Having now only won one of their last six games in the Premier League it is becoming more evident that new players are going to be needed.

Earlier in the week, Moyes admitted Everton may not even make any signings before the window shuts in a few weeks’ time.

The dismal defeat to Brentford and draw with Wolves leaves it hard to believe the owners will not look to bring in new signings.

After the game on Wednesday evening, Moyes spoke out to the media again about just how depleted his squad on Merseyside has become.

David Moyes issues fresh Everton transfer plea to the Friedkins

Despite drawing against the side bottom of the pile in the Premier League, Moyes was impressed with Harrison Armstrong following his loan recall.

However, the 62-year-old is still without a number of his key players due to injuries and international duty.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Moyes made a clear plea to The Friedkin Group over his lack of options available at Everton.

“We didn’t play well and it meant that Wolves got better. They had something to chase. We were half holding on to it and should have got a second goal,” said the manager.

“Very little positives. We’re short of players and we need these players.”

It is understood that Everton are keen to sign a striker this month among other areas of the pitch which need improving.

With aspirations of really pushing on this season, in what looks an incredibly tight Premier League, Everton’s manager will want to see some backing from the club’s owners.

Everton transfer activity may depend on injury returns

Although results have been poor of late, it is hard to argue that Everton are not missing some of their best players.

Regardless of injuries, though, Everton need upgrades at full-back, with Jake O’Brien and Vitaliy Mykolenko simply not offering enough in an attacking sense.

If Everton are expecting a number of players to return before the end of the month, then it may not be a huge surprise if minimal business is done.

However, Everton News columnist Alan Myers was Everton to sign a new full-back and striker before the window is shut.

Having taking one point from the opening two games of the year, there may be a feeling that the Friedkins simply have to act in the market before falling even further behind in the race for Europe.
