David Moyes told to pay £65m for Everton target after discussions held

Everton are in the market to bolster their quality on the wings this summer.

David Moyes has admitted transfers have proven difficult over recent weeks, despite securing a deal to sign Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich.

It has been a competitive transfer market since the opening day back in June for Everton.

Adding Thierno Barry was a major coup for The Friedkin Group, who are looking to put their stamp on the squad, but more additions are needed.

Moyes is pushing for nine signings this summer, and there will be a real desire to add some quality around Barry in the attacking positions.

With such a thin squad, Everton do require a number of new faces to land at Finch Farm ahead of the new term.

For now, the focus will remain on a new winger, but Everton have now been informed of the huge asking price for one of their targets.

Como inform Everton of huge Assane Diao asking price

On Tuesday evening, it was claimed Everton had enquired about Assane Diao of Serie A side Como.

It is believed Diao is seen as a potential alternative for the Lyon winger Malick Fofana, who is hoping for a Champions League move.

According to Sky Sports Italia, Everton are showing a keen interest in signing the Senegal international this summer.

Having only signed him in January from Real Betis, Como are keen to keep the winger at the club and have set a huge asking price for any interested clubs.

It will cost Everton a whopping €75m (£65m) to land Diao over the coming weeks.

Everton have been set a £100m transfer budget by the Friedkins, with a considerable chunk of that already eaten into.

A move for Diao could break the bank, but the Friedkins want to make a statement signing, and the winger would certainly be that.

The question is whether Everton feel they could land better value elsewhere in the market for that price.

Everton must utilise the loan market

Fans will naturally want to see the big value players come through the doors this summer.

Adam Aznou has shared his delight in signing for Everton, and the youngster has been secured at a reasonable rate.

However, the budget is being eaten into considerably, and Angus Kinnear is going to have to get clever in the market.

Given the number of departures in June, Everton will need to utilise the loan market and use up their allocation to really add some depth to the squad.

Moyes was disappointed by Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom last season. So, it will be important for the Toffees to learn from their recent mistakes.
