Wednesday’s Merseyside Derby was a fitting end to Goodison Park’s last ever meeting between Everton and Liverpool.

A chaotic ending through James Tarkowski’s last-gasp equaliser spilled over in the post-game celebrations.

Numerous players and staff members were shown a red card by referee Michael Oliver as things got a little out of hand.

Arne Slot was left rattled by the Everton fans who he was seen gesturing towards inside the first half.

In the scenes after the final whistle, Slot was one of the individuals to be shown a red card and will be set for a suspension.

Unfortunately, there was one member of Everton’s side who also had his name taken by Oliver for his involvement in the chaos.

David Moyes left disappointed by Abdoulaye Doucoure after Liverpool sending off

Abdoulaye Doucoure was seen mocking Virgil van Dijk after the game following his sending off.

The Mali midfielder was red carded for his goading of the away end after Oliver blew the whistle for full time.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Moyes admitted he was really disappointed by Doucoure for putting himself in that position.

“I didn’t see it from where I was. I have had a chance to see it and I’m disappointed because Doucoure played really well tonight and I’m going to now lose him because he’s got a second yellow card which turned into a red,” he said.

“The emotions were running high here all night, the stadium was at fever pitch. You could see what it meant to supporters at the end of the game, the crowd was rocking. It was one of the big nights.”

Doucoure is set to miss the upcoming game against Crystal Palace on the weekend, so it is not surprising Moyes is not best pleased.

Doucoure issues a Merseyside Derby message on the morning of the game and he was certainly up for the occasion with what he showed following the full-time whistle.

What Virgil van Dijk said about Abdoulaye Doucoure

Having been shushed by the Mali midfielder after the game, the Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk did not hold back in his post-match criticism.

Van Dijk criticised the referee for his involvement in the game as he suggested Oliver did not have any control on the evening.

Also speaking to TNT Sports, the Dutch defender slammed Doucoure for his actions towards the traveling Liverpool fans.

“I think Abdoulaye Doucoure wanted to provoke our fans,” he said.

“I think that is what I saw and Curtis Jones didn’t think it was the right thing to do. And then you know what happens if there is a little tussle.”
