Duncan Ferguson has admitted he has a huge soft spot for former Everton manager Howard Kendall.

The Scot is currently out in the United States working for one of the broadcasters during this summer’s World Cup.

Everton manager David Moyes is also working at the World Cup, but it is another former Toffee that Ferguson has waxed lyrical about.

Which Everton player are you expecting to have the best World Cup? 🏆

Duncan Ferguson names Howard Kendall as his favourite Everton manager

Wayne Rooney has hailed Ferguson for what he provided Everton during his playing days on Merseyside.

Although Ferguson played under Moyes more than any other manager, it is Kendall who the Scot truly believes was his best-ever manager.

“Best manager? Well there were many great managers, but obviously the one I favour is Howard Kendall,” Ferguson told ITV Sport.

“The greatest Everton manager because I’ve got a soft spot for Howard. We were very good friends and, of course, he made me Everton captain for the very first time.”

In his 32 appearances under Kendall, Ferguson provided a return of 11 goals and one assist in an Everton shirt.

It is worth noting that Ferguson loved working under Carlo Ancelotti during the Italian’s stint at Goodison Park.

However, when it comes to managers that he played under, there is clearly no one who compares to the great Howard Kendall.

Even Jamie Carragher ranked Kendall as Everton’s greatest manager after seeing what he was able to achieve on Merseyside during the 1980s.

It should come as no real surprise, but to hear just how highly Ferguson rated Kendall as a man also speaks volumes.
