David Moyes is still desperate to add to his squad before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm this evening.
Everton are about to sign Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo and it’s understood the Argentine midfielder has already completed a medical.
Moyes wants attacking reinforcement through the door, too, but Everton won’t be signing Carney Chukwuemeka as he’s on his way to Borussia Dortmund.
The Toffees have also been eyeing Ben Chilwell but Crystal Palace have swooped in and agreed a six-month loan deal.
So Everton are very much on the backfoot today, though, they’ve just received a major boost in their bid to sign Sunderland winger Tommy Watson.

Sunderland close in on Tommy Watson replacement
Everton are eyeing a late move to sign Tommy Watson after his impressive breakout season in the Championship.
The Sunderland wide player is widely regarded as one of the best teenage talents in the second tier, which has put a number of clubs on red alert ahead of the deadline.
In fact, late last night, Brighton submitted a £12m bid for Watson, but Sunderland have knocked back the approach.

Regis Le Bris previously said that Watson won’t be leaving without a replacement and now it seems the Championship promotion hopefuls are close to landing an attacker.
Liverpool’s Jayden Danns is expected to join Sunderland today, freeing up Watson to secure a late move to the Premier League.
Everton face stiff competition for Watson
As well as Brighton, Everton are also facing stiff competition for Watson from Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, who are keeping close tabs.
So clearly it’ll be a complicated deal to complete in a day, but Everton are perhaps the only Premier League suitor who would be able to guarantee him regular game time this term.
With Dwight McNeil sidelined, there’s evidently a void on the right and left flank, so Watson would get his fair share of minutes.
That would make the Toffees a really appealing destination, so a telling 24 hours lie ahead.
