Everton remain active in the transfer market leading up to the deadline on Monday night.

Everton are on the verge of signing Carlos Alcaraz, who is set to join from Brazillian outfit Flamengo to become David Moyes’ first addition.

Lionel Messi has backed Alcaraz to have a bright future, so clearly he arrives with a great ideal of promise and pedigree.

Moyes is also keen to add another attacker before the window slams shut and there’s been talk of Tommy Watson to Goodison Park.

With that said, the latest update on the Sunderland wide player has just emerged.

Brighton see £12m bid rejected for Everton target Tommy Watson

Everton are eyeing a move for Tommy Watson ahead of tomorrow’s deadline and they’re prepared to battle Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.

However, Brighton and Hove Albion have now joined the race and immediately lodged a £12m bid for the teenage attacker.

The bid is thought to be worth an initial £9m with £3m in add-ons, but Sunderland have quickly knocked back the approach as they look to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

It’s further claimed that he may now stay put in the North East, unless an offer too good to turn down is tabled.

There’s certainly a window of opportunity for Kevin Thelwell, Everton’s sporting director, to swoop in late and bring him to Merseyside.

So a telling 24 hours lie ahead for the Toffees, who are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.

David Moyes clearly keen to recruit in Championship

Since Moyes’ arrival, Everton have been linked to a number of players in the Championship, so it’s evident that’s a division he’s eager to fish in.

In fact, in a recent press conference, the Toffees boss made it clear that the second tier should be explored as it’s been home to a number of now Premier League stars.

“I know we’re in a world where we can pick players from any continent to play in the Premier League,” Moyes explained.

“A long time ago, it wasn’t as easy and maybe people didn’t look as far. We continue to look closer to home, which is the Championship.

“Last year, the Championship produced some incredible players like (Morgan) Rogers, (Adam) Wharton, (Jaden) Philogene.”
