Everton’s search for a new striker has seen them eye players from across the world.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin showed David Moyes exactly what he is capable of on Sunday afternoon against Tottenham Hotspur.

But Everton cannot allow the display over the weekend to paper over the cracks, with Calvert-Lewin’s goal his first since September.

Moyes wants a new forward signed at Everton in January and the Toffees are up against the clock to make it happen.

The Friedkin Group have had a lot on their plate since taking over last month but signings are essential.

Speaking to Everton News, TBR Football’s Chief Transfer Correspondent Graeme Bailey has shared Kevin Thelwell’s pursuit of a striker from Brazil.

Everton to rival Arsenal for striker Igor Jesus

According to Bailey’s sources, Everton are in the race to sign striker Igor Jesus this month with the likes of Arsenal also interested.

“They do want another striker, they do. Igor Jesus is one they like, the Brazilian boy. Whether he’s willing to go there is another question,” he said.

“They are in for him, it’s a possibility. They’re asking after everyone. It’s no surprise the ones that Everton are asking about, West Ham are asking about as well, as these are players who might be available.”

Everton are still hoping to extend Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract before it runs out at the end of the campaign.

But the search for a new striker is certainly on, with Beto also receiving interest from Torino ahead of this month’s deadline.

Who is Igor Jesus?

Currently playing in Brazil for Botafogo, Jesus has already picked up plenty of silverware at the age of just 23.

At such a young age, Jesus has already racked up 168 appearances across all competitions where he has been able to return 56 goals and 27 assists.

Last season was particularly impressive for the striker.

ESPN’s Tor-Kristian Karlsen has hailed Jesus for his ‘brilliant dribbling’ and ‘imposing physique’, which may suggest he could be a suitable fit for Premier League football.

However, as TeamTalk reports, Arsenal will provide Everton with real competition for Jesus this month after already holding talks.
