Everton bid may have been accepted as club now agree £6m deal for apparent replacement

Everton are working hard behind the scenes to find a new full-back.

With Vitalii Mykolenko yet to score or assist in 21 appearances this season, and with Jake O’Brien playing out of position, a new option in that department is understandably wanted by David Moyes.

Plenty of rumours are circling, but arguably the most interesting one comes from Corriere di Bologna – who believe Everton have bid for Emil Holm.

Now, the Italian side have made an intriguing move in the aftermath of this bid from Everton.

Seamus Coleman is almost back… does that make a right-back less of a priority in the transfer market? 🧐

Bologna agree deal for potential Emil Holm replacement in Eivind Helland

Fabrizio Romano now claims that Bologna have agreed a €7m (£6m) deal to sign Eivind Helland from Brann.

The Norwegian can play as either a right-back or a central defender.

It could simply be a mere case of Bologna strengthening their backline with the intention of keeping Holm too, but the timing of this move – coming just days after the Toffees sent a bid for the Sweden international – should have Everton fans on alert.

Should it mean what we think it means, Everton fans should be excited.

Holm broke a Serie A record earlier this season when becoming the first defender ever to record a goal involvement in five consecutive appearances, so he could have a transformative impact on the attack as well as the defence.

Emil Holm could be the only defender Everton need

Moyes wants both a new right-back and a new left-back this month, but the Glaswegian could kill two birds with one stone by signing Holm.

The Swede can actually play on either side of the backline, giving Everton a versatile option who can both allow O’Brien to return to the centre of defence and also pose some competition to Mykolenko.

If you were David Moyes, which three players would you want to sign in January?

Not only that, but Holm also has experience of playing as a right midfielder, so if need be, Moyes can use the 25-year-old further forward should an agreement materialise with Bologna.

Once the Italian side officially announce the arrival of Helland, we could well see some movement when it comes to Holm and Everton.
