Everton appear determined to sign a new full-back this month.
Despite only being ten days into the January transfer window, reports in Italy claim that Everton are watching Wesley at Roma – while a more local outlet in the Guardian say the Toffees are keen to sign Zakaria El Ouahdi.
Now, however, perhaps the best source of all in Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Everton have phoned Bologna to enquire about Emil Horn – and if a deal materialises, it would see The Friedkin Group deliver a record breaker to David Moyes.
Emil Horn holds a Serie A record for goal involvements
A theme is emerging when it comes to Everton’s search for a full-back.
Five assists this season… this would be a huge upgrade for Everton! 🤩
Could this be the right-back Everton need to transform the team?
The aforementioned El Ouahdi is one of the best attacking defenders in Europe this season with four goals and one assist in 14 Jupiler Pro League games.
However, the Moroccan is not a record holder like Holm – who Bologna spent €7m (£6m) to sign from Spezia in June 2024.
The Sweden international impressively became the first defender in the history of Serie A to record a goal involvement in five consecutive games earlier this season.
Holm netted once and assisted another four goals during a run of games against Lecce, Cagliari, Fiorentina, Parma and Napoli – helping Bologna earn three wins and two draws from those clashes.

With Vitalii Mykolenko and Jake O’Brien delivering very little going forward from the full-back positions, recording just one assist between them this season, bringing a player like the Bologna No.2 to the Hill Dickinson Stadium would make a lot of sense for Everton.
Everton could offload Nathan Patterson to make space for Emil Holm
Sky Sports recently claimed that Everton would consider allowing Nathan Patterson to leave on loan this winter, with Sevilla ready to sign him until the end of the campaign.
The Scotland international has struggled for both fitness and form under Moyes this season – making just three Premier League appearances – so a run of games elsewhere could help bring the defender back up to speed.
Could Nathan Patterson have offered Everton more from right-back than Jake O’Brien? 🤔
Patterson is nonetheless the only natural right-back Everton have without Seamus Coleman available, so a departure would surely mean a new face is set to arrive.
That new face could well be Holm after what Romano excitingly revealed.
