Everton are continuing to falter this season and the goalless draw at West Ham United on the weekend hasn’t convinced many.

In fact, Everton fans called for Sean Dyche to be sacked after the game as they continue to languish towards the relegation zone.

The Friedkin Group have already lined up David Moyes as Dyche’s successor until the end of the season, though, they accept that finding a long-term manager will have to wait until next summer.

Some Everton fans have urged the club to appoint Thomas Frank whilst others are keen on Stuttgart’s promising young coach Sebastian Hoeness.

Either way, the consensus around Goodison Park is that Dyche is massively underperforming, which makes the comments on Match of the Day look totally baffling.

Micah Richards and Gary Lineker suggest things are positive at Everton at the moment

Everton fans were stunned after hearing Micah Richards suggest that things were pretty rosy on Merseyside.

“They (Everton) are doing alright,” Richards explained on BBC’s Match of the Day programme.

“I mean, since the start of last season, only Raya has kept more clean sheets than Pickford. So, if you are looking at a solid base, they have got that.

“They need to do a little bit better up the field now. Takeover to come as well. New stadium. It’s looking okay.”

“Reasons to be cheerful,” Lineker added.

The positive spin on the situation has dumbfounded Everton fans, who have endured a torrid season watching completely turgid football at times.

Admittedly, the takeover and new stadium are certainly steps in the right direction but from a footballing perspective, the club are in serious danger of getting relegated as it stands.

Everton fans completely baffled by Richards and Lineker comments

Everton fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to react to Richards and Lineker’s comments on Match of the Day.

@PAWS_S44_TOFFEE posted: “@GaryLineker @MicahRichards guys come on, I respect you both but you saying that is 100% not how the fans feel, We are looking forward to the takeover so hopefully Dyche is sacked and an actual coach with ideas is brought in. It’s dire to watch.”

@cryptoidiot162 responded: “2 wins from 11 lowest goal scorers in the league don’t know how to win football matches, apart from that everything’s good.”

@BigPcat: “Horrendous outlook on Everton this. When will the media wake up and realise how bad it is and how poor we are playing.”

“Feels like we’re sleep walking into a relegation battle when despite injuries and a thin squad a more positive approach more points were for the taking. Fear that by the turn of the year we could be firmly mired in the bottom three. V tough run of games,” @chrismickyjoe explained.

@FoleyKeith said: “They’re not wrapped up in the emotion of it all like us. We’re sitting panicking whereas they don’t see an issue. It’s what we’ve become sadly. A bottom half team. The sooner we accept it the better (for now). Reset 25/26.”

@HaddockWhitty added: “They’ve all got it wrong. The amount of times I’ve heard pundits say “Dyche is doing a great job” it’s ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. What are they seeing??”
