Everton fans react to news they’re about to sign Champions League star who’s ‘on-fire’

Everton have been actively exploring a number of transfer targets this month.

David Moyes wants two signings before the deadline in a week’s time and is keen to recruit ‘seasoned’ players.

Everton have been looking at Sunderland’s Dan Neil, who is enjoying a productive season in the Championship, but that deal seems unlikely at this stage.

The Toffees have also shown an interest in Hamza Igamane, but again, Rangers are unlikely to sanction his sale mid-season.

Now, however, it has just emerged that Everton are very close to making their first signing of the window as rumours of a £5m deal surface.

Everton on the verge of signing Angelo Preciado

According to Italian outlet TuttoSport, Everton are on the verge of signing Sparta Prague right-midfielder Angelo Preciado.

It emerged on Sunday evening that Everton may have submitted a bid for Preciado, but it wasn’t confirmed as stories noted it came from an unnamed Premier League club.

Now, however, it’s clear that The Toffees were the English suitors who had tabled the offer and it’s reported that a £5m deal is almost agreed.

Preciado has starred in the Champions League for Sparta this season and those who have tracked him say he’s been ‘on fire’ (per Teradeportes).

Everton fans react to Preciado transfer

Everton fans have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to react to what will be Moyes’ first signing since returning to Goodison Park.

Many aren’t convinced.

@RaymonBluington said: “His stats are awful. So yes there is every chance we would land him for £5m because no other club would offer that much. We do get linked with a lot of unexciting players though.”

“Hasn’t played since October, would be a stupid move for 5 mil,” @YElwell15611 added.

“If true, it surely means we are confident of the other signings like a winger and striker too or this makes no sense,” @notJoth commented.

@brundellfilimou posted: “Given what Moyes said only this week, about signing established PL players, a signing like this would be very unlikely.”

“I would rather go for Tom Fellows, ain’t seeing us signing this guy,” @centrum_waw added.

@lisa_thomas31 simply said: “No thanks.”
