Everton fans won’t be impressed after what Idrissa Gana Gueye was spotted doing after the whistle vs Chelsea

Everton have now suffered back-to-back defeats following Saturday’s loss on the road to Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring inside the first half and David Moyes’ side were unable to level the proceedings.

April has certainly provided Everton with a difficult run of games, which have provided mixed results now they have reached the end of the month.

Jordan Pickford was criticised for his role in Chelsea’s goal, with Tim Sherwood feeling the England number one should have done better.

The Toffees are safe from the drop and the Friedkins will already be planning for the summer transfer window.

But that will not excuse the actions of Idrissa Gana Gueye for some Everton fans after what he was spotted doing.

Idrissa Gana Gueye moment vs Chelsea will frustrate Everton fans

Throughout the season, Gueye has been praised for his Everton showings despite his contract situation rumbling on in the background.

However, there will be some critics after what he spotted doing against the Blues in west London.

It was Gueye’s international teammate who provided the only goal of the game.

When the two sides were heading for the tunnel at half time, the TNT Sports cameras picked up Gueye speaking to Jackson.

Although there is no harm done in that, the pair could be seen laughing away behind their covered mouths.

With Everton trailing, it is not exactly what Everton fans will have wanted to see from their 36-year-old leading midfielder.

Chris Kavanagh was told he made a big mistake at Stamford Bridge, but it is one of their own players who Everton fans may now be pointing the finger at.

There has not been a lot for Everton fans to complain about this season with Gueye, but this was perhaps not the wisest thing to do with the team trailing.

What Roy Keane famously said rings so true

Everton did not show a great deal of grit during the game at the Bridge, so the interaction between these two players at half time was not a great reflection.

The interaction does resonate with what Roy Keane said a number of years ago about Manchester United and Liverpool players being over friendly prior to a game at Old Trafford.

“You go to war! They’re hugging and kissing. Don’t even look at the opposition you’re going to battle against them,” said Keane.

“You’re going to war with these players and you’re hugging them? Chat to them after the game.”

Everton are keen to hand Gueye a new contract ahead of his current deal running out at the end of the campaign.

This will not and should not change that, but he certainly could have waited until he was at least in the tunnel to catch up with his Senegal teammate.
