Everton are already looking at potential new additions for this summer’s transfer window.

It has been a turbulent campaign for Everton who have seen plenty of change away from the pitch to the club’s infrastructure.

David Moyes made his return to Merseyside and has been able to turn the ship around against the fear of relegation.

However, it has become apparent that money is going to be needed in the market to really add some quality to this squad.

The Friedkins are prepared for their first summer transfer window after being handed the keys to Goodison Park back in December.

Finally, Everton are going to be able to go a summer without having to worry too much about breaching FFP.

Although the window is still weeks away from opening, the Toffees are being handed some encouragement over one of their targets.

Lazio hold meeting over Everton target Nuno Tavares’ future

Everton are showing an interest in Nuno Tavares alongside the likes of Fulham and Juventus.

The Toffees are looking to offer the left-back a return to the Premier League following his time in north London with Arsenal.

According to Thursday’s edition of Il Messaggero, a meeting has now been held between Lazio’s president and sporting director to discuss the 25-year-old’s future.

It is believed they would be open to selling Tavares if a bid in the region of £34m was to be lodged this summer.

Lazio are set to purchase Tavares from Arsenal following his loan spell in Serie A, but an instant sale is not off the cards.

Moyes is keen to sign a new left-back and he has made that his mission since the moment he joined back in January.

Everton need support for Vitaliy Mykolenko, but at £34m, Tavares would surely be viewed as the next starting left-back.

What Mikel Arteta said about Nuno Tavares

The defender has now spent a considerable amount of time away from Arsenal on loan, but his manager Mikel Arteta has spoken incredibly highly of him.

“One of the biggest qualities he has is that he is not fazed at all when is playing. He was not fazed to make a debut like he did, the risks that he takes, the actions that he puts in place,” Arteta told the Arsenal website back in 2021.

“Plus what you can see, his physicality, he is naturally a very gifted athlete. He can run and he can change speed and direction, and technically he is very gifted. But, for me, the most important thing is that he is a defender and he needs to defend first, and then he can provide the rest of his qualities.”

Although his defensive capabilities will be appreciated at Everton, it is also his attacking quality which will be exciting.

Mykolenko has only provided one assist in his Everton career after his cross was converted by Jake O’Brien earlier this year away to Brentford.

Tavares has 10 assists this season in Serie A alone.

Everton could land themselves a real talent here, but he is not going to come cheap.
