Everton have already discovered just how fierce the competition for signings is proving this summer.
Liam Delap chose Chelsea over Everton before the window even opened as David Moyes was given a taste of summer frustration.
But there is plenty of time for Everton to pull themselves back around in the market and make some quality additions.
Moyes will be keen for those signings to be made sooner rather than later, with pre-season starting in just a matter of weeks.
Since he returned to the club in January, Moyes has wanted more attacking options at Everton with a real lack of firepower in front of goal at times.
That is something Angus Kinnear has been tasked to fix this summer alongside his new-look Everton recruitment setup.
But the blows keep on coming as there has now been a sudden U-turn from summer target Jack Grealish.

Jack Grealish issues Newcastle United boost and Everton blow
Everton are keen to land Grealish this summer in what would be expected to be a season-long loan.
The 29-year-old’s time at Manchester City is hanging by a thread having been left out of Pep Guardiola’s Club World Cup squad.
According to GiveMeSport, Grealish is now set to prioritise any potential move to a Champions League club this summer.
This is a huge blow for the Toffees who have already seen Delap snub a Merseyside move for Champions League football.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Grealish, but it is claimed Newcastle United are also in the race to sign him.
It is also claimed a decision from Grealish could be drawn out into the summer as he looks to find the best possible club.
Rio Ferdinand has urged Grealish to move to Saudi Arabia and earn himself a pretty penny in the Middle East.
However, it is apparent the 29-year-old still holds a lot of ambition and is a player who could still add a lot to this Everton side.
Everton do hold an advantage in Grealish race
Clearly, Everton are unable to offer Grealish any form of European football, but that is where Moyes wants to take the Toffees once again.
Grealish is happy in the north west of England, and that is another positive for Everton as it would allow him to remain in his current home.
It is a positive to hear that Grealish is still looking to prove Thomas Tuchel wrong and make a return to the England squad.
However, Jarrad Branthwaite has been snubbed by Tuchel for playing for Everton and that is something which could well play into Grealish’s thinking.
A long transfer saga appears to be ahead for the interested clubs.
