Everton are looking to secure the signing of Douglas Luiz this summer from Juventus.

David Moyes is on the search for midfield upgrades in the market, having already secured Idrissa Gana Gueye down to a new deal.

A huge summer is being promised on Merseyside as the Friedkins have put forward a £100m transfer kitty.

But it is up to Angus Kinnear and the Everton recruitment staff to ensure that money is spent correctly.

Everton are keen to bring in new midfielders this summer, with Orel Mangala returning to Lyon from his season-long loan.

Fortunately for the Blues, Harrison Armstrong is looking to impress at Everton, which may take some of the pressure off the search.

Douglas Luiz has emerged as a top target for Everton, but the Toffees have two other players they are eyeing as an alternative.

Everton identify two Douglas Luiz alternatives

It is believed Luiz has given the green light to a Premier League return this summer, after just one year in Turin.

A move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium will now rely on whether Everton can strike an agreement with the Italian giants.

According to the Independent, there are two other midfield options that have been identified by Everton as potential alternatives.

Everton are keen on Merlin Rohl from the Bundesliga side SC Freiburg.

It has previously been claimed that Freiburg value Rohl in the region of £17m, which would be considerably cheaper than Luiz.

Another name credited in the report is that of Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche.

This may not be the news Armstrong is wanting to hear, but Everton fans did question James Garner at times last season.

Clearly, the Toffees are looking to make some major improvements this summer.

Maghnes Akliouche has been valued at £60m amid Arsenal interest

Landing a player of Akliouche’s potential would be a real coup for Everton in the market.

According to L’Equipe, Arsenal are one of the clubs to have shown an interest in signing the French youngster already.

The attacking midfielder has had a whopping £60m price tag put on his head by the Ligue 1 outfit, as per Football Italia.

If Everton were able to beat some of Europe’s top clubs to the signing of Akliouche then that would certainly put the Premier League on alert.

The Friedkins want to make a statement signing for Everton; Akliouche could be just that.
