One Everton player may already be playing for his future on Merseyside in the early stages of this season.
After a strong start in the Premier League, David Moyes’ side find themselves needing a big result on Monday evening against West Ham United.
Everton fans were left disappointed on Tuesday evening with their away trip against Wolves seeing the Blues dumped out of the Carabao Cup.
In the wake of the defeat, Simon Jordan has slammed Everton’s players for not producing the goods for Moyes.
It is the 62-year-old who has taken the flak for his team selection, but he would have expected his XI to have put up a better fight against a struggling Wolves outfit.
Moyes will now be expected to make a lot of changes to face West Ham on Monday, and there is already one player whose future is in doubt.

Everton star is already battling for his future on Merseyside
After Tuesday night’s display, some Everton fans slammed Dwight McNeil’s performance after making his second start of the term.
The £20m midfielder was hooked off after 59 minutes at Molineux with Jack Grealish coming on to replace him.
Speaking to Team Talk, journalist Dean Jones already believes that McNeil should already be fearing for his future at Everton.
“His future at Everton has to be in doubt. When you consider the way the club has been recruiting and the type of usage he is getting, it seems pretty clear he is struggling to gain the full trust of the manager,” he said.
“The latest game certainly does not seem to have changed that and fans are pretty fed up with him too…”
During pre-season, Beto praised McNeil for showing his quality, but that has not translated into the 2025/26 campaign.
Across the opening seven games of the season, McNeil has only been able to rack up a total of 157 minutes across all competitions.
The writing appears to be on the wall for the 25-year-old.
Dwight McNeil’s display against Wolves massively underwhelmed
Everton fans were loving McNeil last season but the additions over the summer appear to have disrupted the 25-year-old’s momentum on Merseyside.
His performance on Tuesday evening showed exactly that.
- 59 minutes played
- 23 touches
- 8/13 successful passes
- 0/1 successful dribbles
- 10x possession lost
- 1/4 ground duels won
With plenty of Premier League experience, it is expected that McNeil would easily find a new club, and that could even come as early as January.
“He should be able to find another club in the Premier League, and by the time we get to January, I think there is a good possibility he’s heading towards receiving offers,” Jones added.
“Chances are going to be few and far between for him now and, so the next time he gets one at Everton, he really has to take it.”
