Everton’s search for a new right-back may have just become a lot easier after they’ve been contacted by the representatives of one of their targets.

Sunday’s defeat against Brentford was the worst way in which Everton could have opened up the New Year.

David Moyes made some tactical decisions which certainly backfired during the game and the right-back position caused more issues.

Following the game against Nottingham Forest, Jake O’Brien was hailed by Danny Murphy for his performance in his natural central position.

However, the Ireland international returned to his usual right-back spot on Sunday, where he failed to impress.

Everton are keen to sign a new right-back in the January window and they may have just moved a step closer to landing one.

Everton contacted by Vanderson’s representatives

It is believed that Everton have shown an interest in Vitinho ahead of the January window even opening.

But there is another Brazilian right-back who may well be on the Toffees’ radar for the remaining weeks of the market.

According to TeamTalk, Everton have now been contacted by the representatives of Monaco right-back Vanderson.

The Blues are not alone as Tottenham Hotspur have also reportedly been offered the chance to sign the right-back.

It is believed that a deal could be made to work in the region of £20m this month, with the defender keen to make a move happen before the window shuts.

Everton News columnist Alan Myers has confirmed Everton’s interest in Vitinho, but it seems as if another option has presented itself.

Right-back has proven a real issue for Moyes this season, with a real lack of quality and depth only highlighted in recent weeks having won just one game since early December.

Vanderson could transform Everton’s defence

James Tarkowski may think Jake O’Brien is as quick as Iliman Ndiaye, but the defender certainly does not offer anywhere near the attacking threat.

Everton’s lack of creativity from the full-back positions has to be a major concern for the fans.

Moyes has demanded more from his full-backs already this season as they have combined for just one assist all season.

Vanderson is a player who could certainly change that on Merseyside.

Everton have the backing of The Friedkin Group in the market, but they will only make moves to sign players who are absolutely right for them.

The Brazilian could be just that player.
