Everton are looking to add some major pieces to their squad over the summer transfer window.

Since returning to Merseyside, David Moyes has undoubtedly turned things around with the Toffees now safe for another season of top flight football.

However, it has become apparent over the last month or so just how much change is going to be needed at Everton over the summer.

Thankfully, Everton are ready to spend in the transfer window with the Friedkins setting aside a significant budget for Moyes.

But their expected outgoings through contracts expiring is only going to add to their list of tasks.

Everton are looking to strengthen four key positions when the window opens with their weaknesses there for all to see.

And it seems the club are already looking to make some deals ahead of the window even opening.

Everton make opening proposal for Georgios Vagiannidis

Since returning to the club in January, Moyes has been keen to sign a new full-back to provide some competition for his current options.

Ahead of the window opening, Everton have already made their move to land a new right-back.

According to Greek show ‘Athletic Sunday‘, Everton have now submitted their opening proposal to land the Panathinaikos right-back, Georgios Vagiannidis.

The Toffees are not the only side from the Premier League interested in signing the defender with Brighton & Hove Albion also on the scene.

It is even claimed the discussions are at an advanced stage with the two English clubs looking to secure a deal for the 23-year-old.

Everton are set to lose Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young with the current deals expiring at the end of the season.

Jake O’Brien has been shifted into centre-back of late and Nathan Patterson brought in to play at right-back.

But it is apparent the club feel more reinforcements are needed.

Who is Georgios Vagiannidis?

The 23-year-old re-joined Panathinaikos back in 2021 after spending some time in Italy with the Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Having established himself back in Greece with his boyhood club, Vagiannidis has become an integral part to their starting XI.

Clearly, Vagiannidis is not a right-back who is going to provide a huge attacking threat, but Everton need reinforcements with two of their players set to leave.

Patterson’s Everton future also remains uncertain and O’Brien is destined to return as a centre-back.

The lack of exposure to Europe’s top five leagues – having not played for Inter’s first team – may be a concern, but it is clear the Friedkins want their deals done early.
