It’s clear £16m Everton player no longer has a future at the club after recent transfer development

Everton are preparing for a transformative summer transfer window.

The Friedkin Group will hand David Moyes a substantial budget as they look to return Everton to their past glories.

They kept their powder dry in January in preparation for a big spend once the window opens at the start of June.

Moyes already has his eye on Liam Delap, who’s enjoyed a sensational breakthrough season in the Premier League with Ipswich Town.

The Toffees are also keeping tabs on Maxime Esteve, though, that deal could be difficult after Burnley’s promotion.

On the outgoing front, it’s now becoming increasingly clear that one Everton star will leave the club, especially after a recent transfer development.

Nathan Patterson looks likely to leave Everton

David Moyes recently suggested that he doesn’t trust Nathan Patterson, as he was worried about moving Jake O’Brien from right-back to centre-back.

“It could weaken the side down the right (if O’Brien moves),” Moyes said. “He’s done the role well, he’s not made us more open.

“To move him can be a problem, it looks like he’ll have the opportunity to play centre-back.”

Patterson was given the nod against Chelsea, but he was subbed off just after the hour mark, having endured a tough afternoon.

And now, over the weekend, it’s emerged that Everton are frontrunners to sign Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey.

That strongly indicates that Patterson isn’t part of Moyes’ plans next season, so a summer exit looks likely.

Where does Patterson go from here?

Everton paid Rangers £16m for Patterson in January 2022, with the then 20-year-old showing real promise up in Scotland.

But, for whatever reason, the attack-minded right-back just hasn’t kicked on and hasn’t been able to force his way into the team.

Patterson recently admitted it’s been a tough year as he’s been sidelined with injury for much of it, so that certainly hasn’t helped his development.

A return to Rangers could be on the cards for Patterson, with Kevin Thelwell set to take charge at Ibrox.

Though, the Gers won’t be able to shell out the kind of money Everton would be after, so they’ll have to find a middle ground.
